USIL bets on the change of the energy matrix

Committed to sustainability and responsible consumption of natural resources, the San Ignacio de Loyola Educational Corporation (USIL) has implemented the use of renewable energy at 100% at its campuses in Pachacámac, La Molina and North Lima (Entrepreneurs Institute), achieving recognizable figures in the goal of reducing its carbon footprint.

For its part, Statkraft, a leader in hydroelectric generation and the largest 100% renewable energy generator in Europe, with more than 120 years of global experience, granted recognition to the USIL Educational Corporation for its collaboration with the environmental care of the planet, which contributes to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially to: SDG 7 «Affordable and Clean Energy», SDG 12 «Responsible Production and Consumption», SDG 13 “Climate Action” and SDG 17 “Partnerships to Achieve the Goals”.

In this way, USIL contributes to the reduction of 2,473 tons of CO2 per year, which is equivalent to the conservation of 12 hectares of trees.

After receiving the award, Rector Ramiro Salas Bravo indicated that USIL is committed to developing strategies and alliances with institutions whose philosophy is to execute actions that remain over time and contribute to the development and sustainability of the country.

Likewise, Statkraft's general manager, Juan Antonio Rozas, congratulated USIL because its entire educational chain is committed to the development and use of renewable energy. He pointed out that the recognition is a product of USIL's commitment to the world's sustainability.

He added that the research work carried out by USIL in Arequipa to take advantage of solar energy is part of the global trend of sustainability, which is committed to changing the fossil energy matrix to a renewable one with the use of water, wind and sun.

The ceremony was attended by the Rector Ramiro Salas Bravo; the Vice President for Administration and Operations, Juan Carlos Fonseca; the Vice President for Sustainability, Miu Huang Li; the Administration Manager, Jorge Espinoza; and the Dean of Engineering, Gustavo Kato Ishizawa. The Statkraft company was represented by General Manager Juan Antonio Rozas and Commercial Manager Juan Manuel López.

USIL Educational Corporation, led by its CEO Juan Manuel Ostoja Carmelino, signed in December 2018 an alliance with Statkraft for a period of five years to supply with renewable energy five of its educational sites: La Molina, Pachacamac, Instituto de Emprendedores de Independencia and San Ignacio de Recalde School.

The development of this project makes USIL Corporation the educational institution with the highest contracted power, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, responsible consumption of natural resources and helping to reduce the impact of climate change with the use of clean 100% energy.

The FactVice President for Sustainability, Miu Huang Li, noted that USIL Corporation is the educational institution with the largest amount of renewable energy contracted and that its use is aligned with the Corporation's sustainability pillar.
