Toyota: Driving sustainability with carbon-neutral vehicles

Toyota del Peru announced the launch of one of its most emblematic models and the best-selling vehicle in history, the new 2021 CorollaThe new car, a completely renovated vehicle that is characterized by its sporty style, comfortable handling and safety. It is ideal for people who enjoy touring the city in cars with elegant and sophisticated designs. This was a special launch, as it was the first time that a virtual launch was held via streaming through the social networks of Toyota del Perú. It was also special because this year's Corolla comes in hybrid version also.

The new 2021 Corolla has a wide and imposing front look and a lower center of gravity compared to previous models. As for the interior, it has a simple and elegant design, is spacious and comfortable with an environment that simulates the interior of a cabin.

This vehicle is aligned with the sustainability trends and the urgency of addressing the climate crisis. Toyota is aware of this and, within the framework of the ".Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050", Toyota Motor Corporation  is committed to 6 ambitious but necessary challenges. The challenges seek to reduce the environmental impact of automobiles to a minimum, while developing actions that contribute to the sustainable development of the environment and society.

One of the challenges is to zero CO2 in vehiclesemissions that cause climate change. The hybrid version of the Corolla addresses this challenge, generating fewer emissions by running on electricity and gasoline. The electric motor is charged with the energy generated when braking. In standard cars, this energy is not collected and is lost. In this way, the Corolla hybrid is more efficient, with an efficiency of 66 km per gallon, which generates environmental and also economic benefits.

In addition, Toyota del Peru wanted to go one step further by neutralize Greenhouse Gas Emissions of the first year of the first 800 Corolla 2021 hybrids sold. All this within the framework of the sustainability initiatives led in the country and understanding that reducing emissions is the way to reach a carbon neutral planet before 2050, which is what science demands. In other words, the 2021 Corolla hybrid cars, in addition to being more efficient, will have zero net emissions during their first year of driving, thanks to the purchase of carbon credits from a REDD+ project being developed in Peru in the Cordillera Azul National Park. The carbon neutralization considers a 10,000 km run in the first year of these vehicles.

Thus, within the framework of the enormous corporate challenge of "Moving towards a society where people, cars and nature can coexist in harmony", Toyota del Perú demonstrates leadership in the region.
