Recycling contest mobilizes more than 25,000 students in Huaura, North Lima and Callao

The “ISM Recyclathon” contest, organized by Industrias San Miguel, mobilizes more than 25 thousand students from 31 public schools in Huaura, North Lima and Callao.

Students participate in the contest by collecting as many plastic containers as possible from Tuesday, November 8 through Monday, December 12.

The ISM Recyclathon also includes awareness days and economic prizes for the schools that stand out during the contest, as well as surprises for the other participants.

"We encourage the recycling of packaging in all its forms to our public of interest, being the contest one of those actions that mobilize the change of attitudes in our children and adolescents.”Eduardo Venegas, ISM's Communication and Sustainability Manager, commented.

The total amount of containers collected during the ISM Recyclathon will be sent to the company's recycling plant. These will be processed and transformed into new beverage bottles, achieving the circularity of its materials.

It is worth mentioning that during 2016 and 2017, Industrias San Miguel organized recycling contests in Huaura and Arequipa. In these contests, more than four tons of plastic containers were collected, which were used to make eco-friendly blankets and donated to areas affected by low temperatures.
