As part of its strategy to promote a circular economy and support the most vulnerable populations, Enel Peru has launched the project “Circular Economy".“Power Uniforms”through which workers donated their disused uniforms in order to use the fabric for the production of face masks.. In this way a new life cycle is given to the material, promoting a more circular economy.
The electric company managed to collect 210 garments that were sent to the shelter “A Day of Hope”where the preparation of more than 1000 masks that meet all the conditions requested by MINSA. The masks will be distributed to Enel customers in vulnerable areas of Lima, to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Enel Peru gave financial support to the shelter “Un Día De Esperanza” (A Day Of Hope), providing funds they need to continue with their noble social work, which consists of sheltering 15 children with HIV who were abandoned or lost their parents due to the disease. In the institution they receive integral attention in health, nutrition, private education and everything they need to improve their quality of life.
The Circular Economy is a pillar of Enel's activity, which reimagines economic activities. “Through this initiative, we contribute to the noble activities of the ‘Shelter a day of Hope’ and, at the same time, we promote a more sustainable economy in the medium and long term, offering new life to disused materials. In this way, we continue with our firm commitment to have a positive impact on society,” said Massimiliano Calamea, Sustainability Manager of Enel Peru.
