The initiative is aimed at students from all BRITÁNICO branches and its objective is to collect more than 25 thousand PET plastic bottles.
In the month of the environment, El BRITÁNICO, together with Recicla,pe! and Libelula, launched the Británico Green Challenge campaign, an initiative aimed at its students with the objective of raising awareness about recycling and the amount of plastic consumed every day. It also aims to raise awareness about the work of recyclers, to whom everything collected will be given. The proposal consists of a large bottle rotating every week in each BRITÁNICO center.
The goal is to fill it with the help of the students and, thus, collect at the end of the route more than 25 thousand PET plastic bottles, which is a 100% recyclable plastic.
“BRITÁNICO has a population of 60 thousand students. Taking into account that only 3% of Peruvians recycle the garbage they generate, and that 12 thousand plastic bottles are consumed per minute, we feel a great responsibility to encourage the culture of recycling in this community”,
said Daniela Tagle, co-founder of Recicla,pe!
Considering that more than 500,000 families depend economically on recycling and that everything collected will be given to recyclers in the area, the British Green Challenge campaign kicked off on Recycler's Day. “We want this campaign to not only have an environmental impact, but also a social one. We are adding a grain of sand to the work done by recyclers, who often have to search through the garbage for several hours to collect a significant number of bottles,” added the Social Responsibility and Culture Manager.
Sustainability campaign
In 2019, BRITÁNICO continues with its environmental commitment. Thus, last June 23, a plogging was organized with the collaborators, managing to collect 19 kg of garbage, among which more than 1,500 cigarette butts and 291 plastic bags were found.
In addition, the recycling points for electrical and electronic waste have been increased with the help of Entel. And, on July 2, the “Allies for Plastic Reduction” alliance will be signed with the Municipality of Miraflores.
