Talking about product quality is much more than generating customer satisfaction and loyalty towards the brand; it has a direct impact on the development of the country and the business itself. According to a study presented by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the National Quality Institute (INACAL) in November 2023, companies that have implemented an ISO 9001 quality certification increase their total sales by about 5% per year and, at the same time, are more likely to increase labor productivity.
Today, more and more companies are seeking to guarantee the quality of their processes and products. However, there is still work to be done, since, according to the INACAL, Only 1 % of formal companies in Peru have quality management systems. "It is essential that the construction industry promotes quality processes and products that also promote environmental care, i.e. eco-efficient. This is how we will be able to ensure a future with sustainable constructions.”said Aldo Bertoli, Pacasmayo's central commercial manager.
Industry input to promote responsible construction
When we talk about EcoEfficiency in construction, we refer to the importance of making available to consumers products that take care of the environment and, at the same time, are durable and of high quality. In addition to promoting responsible construction habits that allow to take care of the health of the master builders. In line with this, a few months ago Pacasmayo became the first cement company in Peru to obtain certification for its entire cement portfolio in accordance with scheme 5 of the product quality evaluation carried out by the international certification body ICONTEC.
This result places the cement company at the highest and most rigorous level of certification under the cement technical regulation, reinforcing its commitment to EcoEfficiency. “This process consisted of an audit of the quality management system at the production, manufacturing, and marketing levels at our cement plants and authorized points of sale. As a result, we are able to offer our customers, who are always at the center of our strategy, products of the highest quality and with a positive impact on the environment.”commented Bertoli.
It is worth mentioning that the cement company began its sustainable path 26 years ago, thanks to the formation of its portfolio composed of blended cements. With its implementation, it has been able to avoid approximately +8 million tons of CO2eq (equivalent), positively impacting the environment. In addition, two years ago, the company added the EcoSaco to its portfolio, a packaging for concrete mixes that is broken down in the concrete mixer in a spinning top style. In this way, and with its correct use, the company can avoid the disposal of approximately 4.5 million bags of cement.
With this certification and its EcoEfficient portfolio, Pacasmayo reaffirms its leadership in sustainability and quality in the cement industry. The company will continue to innovate and promote responsible practices to contribute to building a more sustainable future.
