The sixth edition of the ‘ESG: Leadership Capital for Sustainability’.’, organized by the Simalco media, will be held in Santiago de Chile on June 12.
The event will feature prominent speakers, including Carolina López, representative in Chile of the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP-FI); Witold Henisz, vice dean of The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and director of the school's ESG initiative; Hernán Hochschild, chairman of the board of Sistema B Chile; and María Teresa Ruiz-Tagle, executive director of GLC Chile.
In an international context where new regulations require companies to integrate ESG criteria into their strategies, and in the face of growing pressure from investors, consumers and employees to create a more sustainable environment, Simalco, the leading media that connects international companies with Latin America, has decided to bring this regional event to Chile.
“After the success of our online and in-person events in Mexico and Peru, we saw the need to highlight the ESG activities and strategies of Chilean companies. Not only are they regional benchmarks in adopting high sustainability standards, but they also offer innovative and financially relevant solutions.”, says Silvana Maldonado, founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Simalco.
The activity will take place from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm at the W Hotel, located at Isidora Goyenechea 3000, Las Condes.
“In this edition of ‘ESG: Leadership Capital for Sustainability’.’ we want to go deeper into ESG. We know the importance of sustainability strategies and metrics in an organization, and now we seek to understand how the country's leading organizations are applying this paradigm in their operations”, he explains. Sol Park, managing editor of Simalco and in charge of the conference agenda.
During the event there will be several panel discussions, including one on the new definitions of risk, which will explore how companies can identify environmental and social hotspots that were not previously considered relevant, but are now essential for assessing the value of a company. This panel will include the participation of Paola Piña, partner and leader of the ESG HUB for RSM Latin America, and Verónica Torres, sustainability manager at the Santiago Chamber of Commerce.
Attendees will also be able to participate in the panel “New opportunities to attract investment”, where innovative business models that provide sustainable value for both the company and society, and that are attractive to investors looking for creative solutions, will be discussed. This panel will be attended by Pamela Goicovich, president of the International Chamber of Lithium; Pablo Zamora, co-founder of NotCo and president of Fundación Chile; Sebastián Tramon, Head of Sustainability at Viña Emiliana; and Sebastián González, Head of Corporate Venturing & Innovation Services at Telefónica's Wayra Hispam.
