Arca Continental collected more than 49 tons of waste in Peru with its volunteer program

Lima, October 2022. Arca Continental, the bottling company and exclusive distributor of Coca-Cola brands in Peru, carried out its 2022 volunteer program in which it collected more than 49 tons of waste from rivers and beaches in different cities of the country.

This volunteering is part of the various programs developed by the company, in which it seeks to contribute positively to society. “Our volunteer initiatives contribute to a better world, taking direct action for sustainable development, as it offers us a great opportunity to improve our environment in alliance with different actors and organizations,” said Mariella Paredes, director of Public Affairs, Communication and Sustainability at Arca Continental Lindley.

On September 28 and 30, together with the NGO Vida, 491 volunteers - 170 Arca Continental employees and 321 allies - visited different areas to collect waste and debris. The main objective of the initiative was to preserve natural spaces by cleaning riverbanks and beaches.

This is the first time that the company has carried out volunteer actions to clean rivers and beaches in several cities simultaneously. The places visited by the program volunteers were: Marques beach in Callao, San Lázaro stream and Chili river in Arequipa, the banks of the Huatanay river in Cusco, Masusa port on the Itaya river in Iquitos and Huanchaco beach in Trujillo.

“With the volunteer program we align ourselves with the company's values in tangible actions that contribute to the communities that require this action. Thus, we seek to encourage care for the environment hand in hand with our employees, who become agents of change,” said Mariella Paredes.

Finally, Arturo Alfaro, president of the NGO Vida “Thanks to Arca Continental's corporate environmental volunteering, we were able to benefit 2 beaches and 3 rivers contaminated by solid waste. In addition, new allies were added to the International Coastal Cleanup Campaign in Peru. The company's participation shows its commitment to the country's sustainability, especially in the conservation of water resources, which are essential for life”.
