The historic growth (+54%) of electrified vehicles in Peru consolidates electric hybrid SUVs as the preferred alternative for consumers.
The electrified vehicle market is undergoing its greatest expansion in Peru, marking a turning point for sustainable mobility in the country. According to official data from the National Superintendency of Public Registries (SUNARP) and the Peruvian Automotive Association (AAP), at the end of 2025, more than 10,000 units of electrified vehicles were registered, representing a growth of 54% compared to 2024 and a historical record for the sector. This trend reflects a progressive change in consumer decisions, driven by greater environmental awareness, the need to reduce emissions, and the search for more efficient and accessible transportation solutions.
This growth is key for the country, considering that transportation is one of the main generators of emissions. In this context, electrified technologies, especially self-charging electric hybrids, are positioned as an immediate alternative to move towards low-emission mobility, without depending on a charging infrastructure still under development and allowing a gradual and realistic transition according to the national reality.
A path aligned to carbon neutrality
In this scenario, Toyota consolidated its position as the main driver of the electrified market in Peru. According to figures from the Peruvian Automotive Association (AAP), the Toyota Corolla Cross hybrid electric self-charging hybrid (HEV) was the best-selling electrified model in the country in 2025, with more than 1,500 units sold, well above other vehicles in the segment. This performance confirms Peruvian consumers' preference for practical, reliable technologies adapted to their daily lives.
The leadership of the Corolla Cross HEV is part of a solid portfolio that allowed Toyota to market more than 3,416 electrified vehicles during 2025, reaching a cumulative market share of 33.4%. In addition to this result, models such as the Yaris Cross, the RAV4 HEV and the Corolla Sedan consolidate the brand as the absolute leader in hybrid technologies in the country and reinforce its strategy of Multiple Technological Options, which seeks to reduce emissions from today, progressively and aligned to the energy reality of Peru.
“It has been shown that Peruvians value practical solutions in their daily lives. One example is the leadership of the Corolla Cross hybrid electric, a self-charging model that does not require additional charging infrastructure and also helps them save money. It is a model SUV that combines efficiency, reliability and sustainability,” said Stephanie Guerra, Corporate Affairs Specialist at Toyota del Perú.
Lexus also increases its electrified proposal
This dynamism of the electrified vehicle market is also reflected in the premium segment. In 2025, Lexus consolidated its portfolio of electrified technologies in Peru, with these models accounting for 70% of its total sales. This performance confirms that the preference for low-emission solutions extends to all levels of the market. Models such as the NX, LBX and RX, mainly in their hybrid electric self-recharging (HEV) versions, were decisive in this growth.
