In this crucial context, the ninth edition of the nexos+1 Forum Latam 2024 aims to showcase cases, projects and initiatives from the business sector that can accelerate the transformation towards a low-carbon Latin American economy. It is developed thanks to Libélula and the companies sponsoring the event: Engie, Credicorp, BCP, Alicorp, Ferreycorp.
The forum, to be held on May 29, 30 and 31, will bring together more than 1,300 business leaders, regional and international experts, investors, financial institutions, governments and civil society to be inspired by business leadership cases and learn about key trends in the economic transition in the face of climate change.
Decarbonization, Climate Finance and Effective Climate Communication will be the themes of the first day of the event, which will focus on the pressing need to decarbonize our economies. Transparency and integrity in corporate climate communications are highlighted as crucial elements in this unprecedented effort to prevent greenwashing.
During the second day of the forum in the topics Natural Capital and Business ResilienceThe interdependence between the private sector and natural resources will be explored, emphasizing the importance of protecting biodiversity for business survival. In a context where climate change is no longer a future risk but a present reality, the identification and quantification of its impacts are essential to take concrete measures and manage the associated risks.
Pia Zevallos, CEO of Libélula highlighted that decarbonization, climate communication, as well as natural capital and business resilience are fundamental pillars for a sustainable future. "It is essential that every company understands the urgency of acting quickly to decarbonize our economy. During the nexos+1: Latam Forum, we will learn about the actions that companies and financial institutions, in coordination with governments and others, are developing to protect biodiversity and take practical measures to effectively manage climate risks and take advantage of the opportunities presented by the energy transition.", he said.
During the three days of the virtual eventOn May 29, 30 and 31, participants will be able to attend presentations and panels of experts from different countries, including Tim Christophersen, VP Climate Action at Salesforce, María Paula Duque, LATAM Sustainability Leader at Microsoft, José Monzón, Commercial Manager at Engie Peru, Darice Gubbins, Head of Sustainability at Credicorp Group, Andrea Pradilla, Director of GRI in Latin America, Lígia Ramos, Regional Leader for Latam at Science Based Targets Initiative, Olga Cantillo, Executive President at Latinex, among others. The topics of the presentations will be grounded in success stories of companies in the region and practical workshops so that participants can put the concepts into action in their own organizations.
