Engie's corporate building in Peru achieves carbon neutrality

After registering its carbon footprint on the Ministry of the Environment's Carbon Footprint Peru platform by the end of 2020, ENGIE Energy Peru achieved "carbon neutrality" of its main headquarters in San IsidroThe achievement is made plausible by the reduction of emissions and by the attainment of carbon credits for the periods 2019 and 2020.

Certified carbon credits pertain to projects of conservation of the organization Bosques Amazónicosemissions, offsetting the 858 tons of CO2 in 2019 and 262 tons of CO2 in 2020 emitted by the main administrative headquarters.

For several years we have been working to measure, reduce and offset all emissions that we may generate directly or indirectly. "This is a very important achievement for the company as we consider it key to act on our ways of working, promoting an organizational culture aligned with a carbon neutral world."said Mario Castro, Environmental Manager of ENGIE Energía Perú.

In order to achieve this objective, ENGIE Energía Perú has developed several projects, such as electrical automation, the LED lightingthe installation of 100 photovoltaic panels on the roof of the corporate building in San Isidro-Lima for self-generation of solar energy, the program of electric bicycles for its employees, among others.

The reduction of the carbon footprint is a process that involves several actors in society and that the private sector promotes by improving the habits of its employees, in addition to providing value to customers within the framework of sustainable development.
