Scotiabank launched the first edition of its ScotiaRISE Social Impact Fund, which offers more than S/. 1 MILLION in financing and pro-bono, as part of its sustainability strategy. After a rigorous selection process, which attracted applications from more than 120 non-profit organizations, five outstanding projects were chosen by an external, expert jury. The winners will receive strategic support and resources aimed at benefiting more than half a million people in the country.
Through ScotiaRISE, the bank identifies and transfers resources to high-impact projects in four key areas: Financial Education, Employability, Diversity and Inclusion, and Environmental Action. "Through ScotiaRISE, we provide the necessary resources and support to non-profit organizations with the objective of transferring -to vulnerable populations- tools to face the difficulties of the present and future", says Giuliana Pacheco, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Manager of Scotiabank Peru.
The winning projects and strategic partners of the first edition of the ScotiaRISE 2024 Impact Fund are:
- CARE Peru's "Managing your future".which will be implemented in rural areas of Cajamarca and Lima, promoting financial education for high school students, teachers and families, within the framework of the organization's flagship project: "Girls with Opportunities".
- "Families with a Future: Employability and entrepreneurship for family strengthening" by SOS Children's Villages Peru.which will have an impact in Arequipa, Lambayeque and Lima, training families and young people in employability and entrepreneurship skills to generate sustainable income and create a safe and protective family environment.
- APROPO's "Projected: Digital Platform".The project, with national reach, will contribute to the development of the life projects of thousands of vulnerable adolescents through an innovative digital platform that will provide accompaniment and counseling in socioemotional skills.
- CESAL's "Capacity building for the management of Amazonian forests".located in Atalaya, Ucayali, which will work on the sustainable use of Amazonian forest resources to improve the quality of life of indigenous communities.
- ES HOY's "Fondo Talento Digital".with national scope, will facilitate training in the digital sector for people in vulnerable situations and highly employable digital profiles.
Since its launch in 2021 and worldwide, ScotiaRISE has invested more than S/. 260 million in programs that promote economic resilience. In Peru, since the same period, the investment has exceeded S/. 11 million and this year is expected to add more than half a million Peruvians to the 129 thousand who have already benefited.
