Why should science guide business?

Adopt science-based climate goals is key for companies to ensure their profitability, competitiveness and impact.

The temperature increase of the planet must not exceed 1.5 °C with respect to pre-industrial values to avoid the most catastrophic effects of climate change. Today we have already reached 1.2 °C and we know that part of the impacts are irreversible. Science tells us that we must adapt and drastically reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to reach net zero as soon as possible.

Companies can play a key role on the road to a more sustainable and sustainable resilient and low-carbon economy.

The new CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) report reveals that sustainable supply chains represent a huge untapped opportunity for companies. If managed correctly, they could generate up to 165 billion dollars in financial benefits. However, many companies are still not taking advantage of these benefits.

The report «Strengthening the chain: sectoral perspectives to accelerate sustainable transformation».» analyzes data from more than 23,000 companies and underscores the importance of managing the emissions from the Scope 3. Failure to act in time can be three times more costly than implementing sustainable measures.
