Carbon pricing systems in the form of taxes are being implemented in several LATAM countries, with a regulatory innovation of potential international impact: the offset option with the use of offsets. This option is an opportunity to improve the effect of the tax on land use, but is a design challenge to maintain the economic signal in the energy sector.
