Both companies received Aquafondo’s 2026 Water-Responsible Company Seal for initiatives that contribute to the conservation of water sources, their responsible use, and access to water in Arequipa and Pucusana.
Coca-Cola Peru and Arca Continental Lindley were recognized in the 2026 edition of the Water-Responsible Company (EHR) Seal, awarded by Aquafondo, for their initiatives aimed at strengthening water security in the country. The projects carried out in Arequipa and Pucusana reflect both companies’ efforts to promote solutions that contribute to the availability, efficient use, and sustainable access to water.
In Arequipa, Coca-Cola Peru has helped improve water availability by restoring and conserving natural infrastructure in the Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve. As part of this initiative, three qochas—reservoirs built in natural depressions in the high Andean terrain—were constructed, with a capacity to store 458,000 cubic meters of water, while the interventions carried out contributed to an estimated water recharge of 327,000 cubic meters by 2025—the equivalent of 131 Olympic-sized swimming pools, 32,700 water tanker trucks, or 327,000 household water tanks. These results earned the company recognition for the third consecutive year, this time in the “Watershed Management” category.
“Water is essential for people and ecosystems. That is why, at Coca-Cola Peru, we support initiatives that seek to improve both the availability of and access to this resource in different regions of the country. Our project in the Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve in Arequipa is an example of this commitment: it is being carried out in a state-protected natural area that is key to the region’s water supply and home to great biodiversity. Receiving this recognition motivates us to continue working hand in hand with communities, authorities, and other institutions to protect water sources and contribute to people’s well-being.”he pointed out Daniela Maúrtua, Communications and Sustainability Manager Coca-Cola's operations in Peru and Ecuador.
For its part, Arca Continental Lindley was recognized in the “Water Culture” category for the results of its initiative in Pucusana, carried out in partnership with the Coca-Cola Foundation. Since 2017, the project has promoted the responsible use of water, reaching 100% of the district’s public schools, training 152 teachers, and raising awareness among more than 3,000 students. These efforts have resulted in an estimated annual water savings of 25 million liters.
Likewise, coordinated efforts with social organizations, authorities, and government agencies helped facilitate the awarding of the water and sanitation project “Esquema Pucusana,” valued at over S/290 million under the Works-for-Taxes (OxI) program, aimed at promoting a long-term solution for access to these services in the district.
“When the public sector, the private sector, and the community work toward a common goal, it is possible to promote sustainable, long-term solutions. That is the path we have been forging in Pucusana, where Arca Continental Lindley is helping to bridge the gaps in access to water and sanitation. In this way, we reaffirm our role as a strategic partner of the government, promoting initiatives that create new opportunities, improve families” quality of life, and contribute to the country’s development,” he emphasized. Alberto Martos, Sustainability Manager at Arca Continental Lindley.
These awards reflect the commitment of Coca-Cola Peru and Arca Continental Lindley—as part of the same system—to promoting initiatives aimed at conserving water sources, using water efficiently, and developing solutions that contribute to water security and the well-being of communities.
