Air quality is a challenge that directly links sustainability to health and mobility. In Peru, the air contains nearly four times as many air pollutants as the World Health Organization (WHO) considers safe (IQAir, 2025). Furthermore, approximately the 58% of these emissions in Lima come from the vehicle fleet (AAP).
Given this situation, Toyota del Peru is promoting its "Multiple Technology Options" approach, designed to offer various alternatives for reducing emissions and improving air quality, taking into account user needs and conditions in the Peruvian market:
- Self-charging electric hybrids (HEV): a concrete and immediate alternative for Peru, as it reduces emissions without relying on external charging infrastructure.
- Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs): They combine electric range for everyday commutes with the flexibility of an internal combustion engine.
- 100% electric vehicles (BEVs) and low-emission alternatives: options that also include technologies such as CNG and ethanol.
As part of this progress, Toyota recently introduced the New RAV4 PHEV to its portfolio in Peru. This technology complements its lineup of electrified vehicles and expands the range of choices, allowing each user to select the option that best suits their habits and lifestyle.
In this way, Toyota del Perú continues to promote solutions that help reduce emissions and improve air quality, in line with its overall goal of achieving the carbon neutrality by 2050.
