In the high Andean areas of Peru, where low temperatures are a constant challenge, having a warm home can make a big difference in the health and well-being of families. To this end, the BRITISH, in partnership with the NGO Kusimayo, continue to promote initiatives that have a real impact on vulnerable communities.
An intervention against extreme cold
The past January 12, 2009, the implementation of the Clean Hot Houses in the Checca Pupuja community in Puno, a sustainable solution designed to improve thermal conditions inside the homes.
These technologies conserve heat inside the home and significantly reduce the presence of smoke, helping to create safer and healthier spaces, especially for children and the elderly.
Direct impact on families
As a result of this intervention, 5 families of the community were benefited with better conditioned houses to face the low temperatures.
The official handover of the houses took place on March 12, This is an important milestone for families, who now have better conditions for their daily lives. This type of solution not only has an impact on health, but also on the quality of life, allowing for a more dignified and safe environment.
Working together to transform
This initiative was made possible thanks to the joint work between BRITÁNICO and the NGO Kusimayo, an organization specialized in sustainable solutions for high Andean communities.
In addition, the participation of employees Anghela Soto, Alex Chuquimarca and Camila Cordero was key during the process, adding effort and commitment at each stage of the implementation.
