The ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic, Keiko Fujimori; the Minister of Transport and Communications, Rafael Rey Rey; Tiemen Meester, Global Director of Port and Terminal Operations at DP World; Morten Johansen, Executive Vice President of Ports and Terminals Operations for the Americas at DP World; and Carlos Merino, CEO of DP World in Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia; as well as Javier Moreira Calder\u00f3n, General Manager of the CMA CGM shipping line.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the ceremony, the connection was made between<\/span><b> The first vessel in the CMA CGM fleet (CMA CGM PLATINUM) to use the shore power system at DP World Callao<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, marking a new milestone in the country's port operations. With a capacity of <\/span><b>13,100 TEU, a length of 335 meters, and a design <\/b><b><i>methanol-ready<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, this ship, built in 2025, represents a new generation of vessels that incorporate technologies designed to make shipping more sustainable.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The implementation of this system is in addition to the nearly US$1.000 million invested by DP World in Peru over its 20 years of operations. The project was launched voluntarily as part of the company\u2019s decarbonization strategy and its commitment to incorporating sustainable solutions into port operations.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This project is in addition to further investments totaling more than US$$1.3 billion that DP World considers necessary to continue strengthening the infrastructure and expanding the capacity of the South Pier to more than 4.3 million TEUs per year, in response to the growth of Peru\u2019s foreign trade.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With its shore power infrastructure, the Port of Callao joins the 3% group of ports worldwide that currently have shore power systems. In the Americas, this technology is available in a limited number of countries, including Canada, the United States, and now Peru. As such, the project represents a new step forward in the energy transition of Peru\u2019s port system and in the decarbonization of maritime transport.<\/span><\/p><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00abThe launch of the shore power system marks a milestone for the Peruvian port system and reaffirms our commitment to developing a more competitive and sustainable port infrastructure. At DP World Callao, we will continue to promote technologies that create value for our customers and for the country.\u00bb<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, said Carlos Merino, CEO of DP World in Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5507550 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"5507550\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Environmental Impact<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4a14f6a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4a14f6a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Shore Power system allows compatible vessels to connect to the shore-based power grid while docked, replacing the use of their auxiliary engines and reducing fuel consumption and emissions during their stay in port.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently, about 80% of the ships arriving at Pier 3 of DP World Callao are equipped with systems compatible with this technology, which will facilitate its adoption from the start of operations.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The system will prevent the emission of more than 6,300 metric tons of CO<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2082<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">per year and reduce NOx, SOx, and particulate matter emissions generated by auxiliary engines while vessels are in port by more than 90%.
