If we talk about sustainable mobility and the role played by hybrid vehicles in achieving this goal, it is inevitable to talk about Toyota, a pioneer and world leader in eco-mobility. Transportation is one of the main generators of emissions in Peru. How urgent is it to move towards more sustainable mobility?<\/strong><\/p>

This transition is urgent, but it also starts from an important gap. Today, the penetration of electrified vehicles in the country is around 4.8%, far below other markets in the region, such as Colombia (34.5%) or Ecuador (18.2%). This reflects that we are still in an initial stage with challenges in infrastructure, access and renewal of the vehicle fleet. Therefore, rather than an immediate transition, what we need is to move forward progressively with solutions that work today and that allow us to close this gap in a sustainable manner.<\/p>

In 2025 the market for electrified vehicles grew by more than 50% in Peru. How to explain this growth and what has changed in the Peruvian consumer?<\/strong><\/p>

Today, not only is there greater environmental awareness, there is also a concrete search for efficiency and savings in daily use, according to the growth of 54% of electrified vehicles in 2025, which exceeded 10,000 units. In addition, the offer has evolved towards technologies that are more adapted to the country. In this context, self-recharging electric hybrids have gained relevance because they combine efficiency, practicality and do not require changes in user habits. Today, Peru has a penetration close to 5%, which shows that the challenge is not only technological, but points to how we accelerate the adoption according to our reality. This growth will also depend on the ability to develop an ecosystem that facilitates its adoption. At Toyota, our role is to promote this transition in a comprehensive manner.<\/p>

What is the role of electrified vehicles in reducing emissions and why are they gaining relevance?<\/strong><\/p>

It is key because they make it possible to reduce emissions today. But their impact depends not only on the technology, but also on how accessible they are to the user. Therefore, in addition to product development, it is essential to work on the entire value chain - financing, maintenance and associated services - to facilitate their adoption. Their relevance lies in the fact that they combine environmental efficiency with operational viability, which is key in a market like the Peruvian one.<\/p>

Why self-recharging electric hybrids have positioned themselves as a viable solution in the country<\/strong><\/p>

Because they directly address one of the main market barriers: infrastructure. Self-recharging electric hybrids do not require connection to an external source; they charge automatically while driving, which facilitates their mass adoption. In addition, they can reduce fuel consumption and emissions by up to 40% compared to traditional vehicles. This makes them an efficient, accessible alternative that is aligned with the reality of Peru, where the energy transition is still in the process of development.<\/p>

Toyota proposes a strategy of multiple technological options. Why do you consider this approach to be the most appropriate for the Peruvian reality?<\/strong><\/p>

There is no single solution that works for all markets. The strategy of multiple technological options is based on recognizing that each country has a different energy, economic and infrastructure reality. In Peru, moving forward means combining technologies that are viable today, such as hybrids or NGVs, with solutions throughout the value chain - financing, after-sales and new usage models - that allow more people to have access to these technologies. This is a way to accelerate the transition without creating gaps, because the transition is not only about speed, but also about effectiveness. This approach allows us to move forward today with solutions that can scale in the short term. Instead of waiting until all the conditions are in place, the aim is to reduce emissions in a progressive and sustained manner.<\/p>

What concrete impact have these technologies had in Peru in reducing emissions?<\/strong><\/p>

Since 2009, when Toyota introduced the first vehicle with hybrid technology to the country, the adoption of this technology and NGV has allowed avoiding more than 960,000 tons of CO\u00b2 equivalent in the country, considering its entire life cycle.<\/p>

How are these advances reflected in Toyota's performance and in the leadership of models such as the Corolla Cross hybrid?<\/strong><\/p>

In 2025, Toyota reached 3,550 electrified units sold, representing 9% of its total sales. In this segment, the Corolla Cross hybrid was the best-selling vehicle, with 1,604 units, followed by the Yaris Cross. But beyond volume, we are expanding the way people access mobility. Through solutions such as KINTO, we are incorporating mobility-as-a-service models that allow users to access electrified vehicles without the need to purchase them. This responds to a global trend and also to a local need for greater flexibility.<\/p>

Beyond the environmental impact, how do these benefits translate into the user experience in terms of savings, efficiency and daily use?<\/strong><\/p>

For the user, the benefit is not only environmental, it is practical. Lower fuel consumption means direct savings, especially in the city. And in the case of hybrids, since they do not require changes in usage habits, adoption is much simpler. But we are also working to make the whole experience more accessible: from financing options to after-sales services that accompany the use of the vehicle.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
