Between 2010 and 2024, the total impact on the Peruvian economy generated by the operations of DP World Callao<\/a>which is in charge of the Terminal Muelle Sur (TMS) of the Port of Callao, reached US$$ 3,051 million (measured in 2024 dollars). Of this total, only in 2024, the impact on the country's GDP was US$ 316 million, according to a study prepared by Apoyo Consultor\u00eda.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

In terms of contributions to the State, in the period under analysis, the company has contributed US$ 527 million. Equivalently, this amount represents twice the public expenditure of Callao in education last year, or 13 times the public expenditure in sanitation of the constitutional province in 2024. According to the report, with what DP Word Callao contributed during that period, 27 public schools or 2 hospitals could be implemented.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Likewise, the Muelle Sur has facilitated more than 17,000 jobs in the logistics chain during 2023, equivalent to 11% of formal private sector employment in Callao in the same year. By 2024, 2,939 jobs were generated, equivalent to 2% of formal private employment in Callao.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\"The port of Callao is a vital and strategic economic development pole for the country, and from the South Pier, we play a fundamental role in enabling imports and exports, generating positive impacts on GDP, employment, taxation and foreign trade.\" <\/span><\/i>said Carlos Merino, CEO for DP World Peru, Ecuador and Colombia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Exports and imports\u00a0<\/b><\/p>

The impact on the GDP and contributions to the State are mainly explained by the good performance of exports and imports carried out through DP World Callao. Since the beginning of its operations, the terminal has mobilized 212.22 million metric tons in import, export and transshipment operations. In 2024 alone, the South Pier mobilized approximately 400,000 TEUs in export cargo, which is equivalent to 4.4 million metric tons or US$ 14,367 million in FOB value (value of goods placed on board maritime transport).<\/span><\/p>

Meanwhile, in imported cargo, the terminal moved approximately 700,000 TEUs last year, equivalent to 7.5 million metric tons or US$ 15,605 million in FOB value.\u00a0 <\/span>\"In 2024, in the absence of the Muelle Sur Terminal and assuming the remaining public-use concessioned marine port terminals operated at maximum capacity, approx. US$23.6 billion in FOB value would not have been traded.\" <\/span><\/i>refers to the report.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The economic study conducted by the consulting firm also concluded that without DP World's investments in the Port of Callao, the vital sectors of the Peruvian economy would have been impacted, mainly the agro-industrial sector, which in 2024 recorded exports for US$ 3,666 million. In this context, the consultant points out that, in the absence of the Muelle Sur Terminal, last year the agro-industrial sector could have failed to trade approximately US$2,882 million in FOB value, equivalent to 79% of the value exported through it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Infrastructure\u00a0<\/b><\/p>

These performances have been possible thanks to the increase in DP World Callao's cargo capacity. The report states that, by the end of 2024, the terminal's handling capacity reached 2,179 TEU per vessel, a growth of 89% compared to 1,152 TEU per vessel in 2010.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\"Had it not been for the efficiency improvements implemented by DP World Callao, in 2024, 402 vessels would have spent 1.6 days each in queues waiting to be served (1.6 days saved for 402 vessels, equivalent to 639 days saved in total). The productivity of Muelle Sur Terminal (TEU\/hour), has increased between 2010 - 2024 by 70%. This has translated into time saved for the vessels served at DP World Callao during 2024,\" <\/span><\/i>pointed out the report.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Sustainability\u00a0<\/b><\/p>

DP World Callao has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by targeting a 90% reduction of its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030, which is equivalent to avoiding the emission of 31,000 tons of CO\u2082. To achieve this goal, the company has implemented a series of technological innovations: in 2020 it installed 21 hybrid RTG cranes, in 2022 it electrified its container yard with electric RTG cranes and, in 2024, it inaugurated the first electric charging station in a Latin American port terminal, accompanied by the incorporation of 20 electric trucks that, in their first year, traveled 740,000 km without generating emissions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

In the social area, until 2024, DP World has developed several initiatives to contribute to the development of the community of Callao. These include the Emprende program, which has supported more than 200 local entrepreneurs; the program to improve the infrastructure of schools in Callao, which between 2021 and 2023 has equipped 27 digital classrooms, benefiting more than\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

1,500 Chalaco students; and, the recovery of more than 12,000 m\u00b2 of public green areas, improving the quality of life of approximately 3,700 people.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
