Toyota del Peru<\/a> announced the purchase of carbon credits to offset 420 tons of CO2, equivalent to 100% of the emissions generated by the nearly 400 vehicles, including competitors and support vehicles, participating in the Caminos del Inca rally. As the main sponsor of the competition, Toyota has taken a proactive role in the management of greenhouse gas emissions, in line with its global goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 throughout the life cycle.<\/span><\/p>

\"For more than 15 years, we have led initiatives to reduce CO2 emissions, avoiding more than 969 thousand tons through the promotion of hybrid and natural gas vehicles. As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, we have decided to offset the emissions generated by all vehicles participating in Caminos del Inca, thus contributing to environmental conservation and reaffirming our dedication to sustainable mobility in Peru,\" said David Caro, Corporate Affairs & ESG Manager of Toyota del Per\u00fa.<\/span><\/p>

The carbon credits acquired come from the project <\/span>REDD+ Casta\u00f1eros<\/b>an initiative developed by <\/span>Amazonian Forests (BAM)<\/b> in collaboration with the Federation of Chestnut Growers of Madre de Dios (FEPROCAMD). This project not only helps reduce emissions, but also protects more than 600,000 hectares of forests threatened by deforestation in one of the most biodiverse areas in the world. Through this action, Toyota not only mitigates the carbon footprint generated during the more than 2,100 kilometers of the rally, but also supports the sustainability and conservation of vital ecosystems, promoting sustainable development and improving the quality of life of the inhabitants. This conservation project, financed through the sale of carbon credits, is certified by the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), the most widely recognized standard in the international carbon market.<\/span><\/p>

About Caminos del Inca<\/b>
<\/span>Toyota del Per\u00fa, for the third consecutive year, is the official sponsor of Caminos del Inca, with the participation of its ambassador Luis Alayza, who competes aboard the GR Yaris, a vehicle inspired by World Rally Championship (WRC) technology. Caminos del Inca is the most important rally competition in the country, covering 7 regions and 6 stages that challenge both drivers and their vehicles.<\/span><\/p>

In the heart of Madre de Dios<\/b>
<\/span>The Casta\u00f1eros REDD+ project has been working with more than 800 local families since 2009 to protect this green lung, home to more than 900 species, including endangered species such as the jaguar, sachavaca and various species of monkeys. The Brazil nut forests, located along the interoceanic highway that connects Peru and Brazil, are one of the last barriers against deforestation in the Amazon.<\/span><\/p>

Eduardo Galindo, project director, explained, \"We conserve more than half a million hectares in a region where 60% of Peruvian territory is forest, which underscores the urgency and importance of this work. These carbon credits allow companies like Toyota to invest in long-term conservation, contributing not only to climate change mitigation, but also to the sustainable development of local communities.\"<\/span><\/p>

Toyota, which recently obtained the fourth star in the Carbon Footprint Peru program of the Ministry of the Environment (MINAM), reaffirms its commitment to contribute to the national goal of reducing CO<\/span>2<\/span> in a 40% by 2030. With this project, the company shows that its vision of sustainable mobility encompasses not only transportation, but also active care for the environment and natural resources.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
