Camila Escobar, CEO of Juan Valdez Caf\u00e9, and part of the High Level Expert Group 2022 of the UN, stated in <\/span>nexos+1: Latam Forum 2023 <\/b>that the private sector faces two major challenges: <\/span>\u00a0the <\/b>greenwashing<\/i><\/b> and not-so-certain or overly optimistic announcements about decarbonization. It is therefore necessary to be<\/span> transparent and have targets<\/b> short, medium and long term in order to act in a timely manner.<\/span><\/p>

Escobar also disclosed some of the <\/span>recommendations <\/b>in the context of the <\/span>sustainability <\/b>companies must follow, among which the following stand out:<\/span> to be carbon neutral by 2050, for which it is necessary to reduce 50% of emissions by 2030; implement transition plans accompanied by investment; include SMEs in the transition; and have a regulatory framework with commitments.<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\"<\/i>No matter the size of our organizations, the call of climate change is now and we all need to get on board. I invite you today to make this decision, to get on the road. <\/i>from<\/i> climate change, not to wait for larger companies to do it, not to wait for regulation to come. Regulation will come, but we can do it first out of conviction,\u00bb Escobar said.<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

He also emphasized the need for this commitment to come from the organization's strategy so that it is transversal to all levels of the company and not the responsibility of an isolated area. Thus, there is a need for a company-wide culture and awareness, as well as a cross-functional approach to climate change.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u201cSustainability must be part of the business strategy, a culture and awareness is needed from the CEOs to the people who are in operation.\u00bb, <\/span><\/i>
