Lima, July 25, 2022.<\/strong> The electricity distribution and generation company Enel Peru awarded Arca Continental Lindley the I-REC Standard certification (International Renewable Energy Standard Certificate), issued by the world renowned firm The Green Certificate Company. This recognition, the first one granted by Enel in Peru, was awarded for the consumption of 100% renewable energy in the bottling company's Arequipa, Trujillo, Z\u00e1rate and Pucusana production plants during 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor several years, we have been working hard to be increasingly efficient in the use of our resources, including the energy we use in our plants and processes in general. This certificate reaffirms our commitment to caring for the environment, a principle that forms part of our sustainability policy and motivates us to continue working firmly towards this goal,\u201d said Jes\u00fas Garc\u00eda, general manager of Arca Continental Lindley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This milestone is the continuation of a series of voluntary actions taken by the company to address climate change. An example of this is that it was the first company in Latin America to receive LEED Gold certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) in two of its main production plants, Trujillo and Pucusana. These certifications recognize efficiency in the use of natural resources and health care for the users of these facilities. It also carries out annual upgrades to its distribution fleet to achieve greater efficiencies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marco Fragale, country manager of Enel Peru, said: \u201cAt Enel Peru we are committed to being allies of all actors in society to achieve the energy transition in our country. The fact that a company as large as Arca Continental Lindley is committed to the use of renewable energies will not only contribute to this objective, but is also an example for its peers in the mass consumption industry to join together to achieve a Peru with zero emissions\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The I-REC Standard certification is a global recognition that allows electricity generators and distributors to certify the physical origin and traceability of the technological origin of the energy they produce and supply, ensuring that it comes from 100% renewable sources. Through the agreement with Arca Continental Lindley, Enel Peru has committed to issue an I-REC certificate every year certifying that the energy now used by the bottling company's operations comes from renewable sources, specifically from the Matucana hydroelectric plant.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
